Bulgarian Caves
Up to the present moment, in Bulgaria have been found more than 5500 caves, most of which already explored and available for passionate tourists interested in speleology. There are organised expeditions in the Balkan Mountain Range, Pirin and Rhodopi mountains which offers perfect equipment and very experienced guides. Some of the caves have preserved traces of pre-historical life in the form of petroglyphs and rock drawings, such as the Magura Cave near the town of Vidin. Bulgarian Caves are also very interesting due to their karst formations. The numerous stalagmites, stalactites, dentrites, and water pools found in the caves form the beauty and uniqueness of the caves of Bulgaria. With more than 2,000 caves still to be explored, Bulgaria's subterranean rock formations and ancient cave paintings will delight and excite the more adventurous visitor.
